Ski Areas
Browse an interactive table of the world’s ski areas.
Explore statistics on all named ski areas in the world. The table initially shows ski areas with at least 3 runs and 50 meters of cumulative vertical drop across their runs. Clear the initial filters to inspect the complete named-ski-area dataset. The underlying data is provided by OpenSkiMap and OpenStreetMap with statistics computed by https://github.com/dhimmel/openskistats.

OpenSkiStats is a work in progress. Methods and results are subject to change. Feedback is welcome via GitHub issues.
Table usage
Numeric columns open the distribution of their values. Drag across the bars to select a range, or type bounds into the boxes beneath the plot. Bars count the ski areas the other filters still allow, and the end bars hold any outliers the axis stops short of. Ski areas with no value for a column drop out once that column is bounded. Percent columns are bounded in whole percent, so 80 rather than 0.8.
H φ is a latitude distribution like the others, and its two lobes are the hemispheres: brush the negative bars for the southern one.
Ski area, country, region, and locality offer a value picker listing how many ski areas each value still matches. Search ignores case, accents, and separators, and a country also answers to its code or flag, such as US or 🇺🇸.
Ski run difficulty is collapsed and colored as follows:
- easy combines novice and easy
- intermediate combines intermediate
- advanced combines advanced, expert, extreme, and freeride
- other combines other and missing
